Recipes for Termites

Not only can termites be very tasty but there is also a great deal of satisfaction to be gained by eating creatures which have themselves been trying to literally eat you out of house and home.

Termites LeRoux

Ingredients
One-half cup termites, winnowed until wingless.
One large pinch salt
Two pinches black pepper
One pinch curry powder

Place termites and seasonings in 10 inch frying pan. Turn the heat on low and stir slowly. Termites cook in their own body fat. When they’re golden brown and crunching, they’re ready for munching.

Baked Termites

One cup termites, winnowed
Salt, pepper, basil to taste

Spread termites on medium-sized baking tray. Place in preheated oven at 200 degrees for ten minutes.

Boiled Termites

One cup termites, winnowed
One half cup water
2 tablespoons butter

Boil termites in water with a pinch of salt. As water boils off, add the butter. Simmer the mixture for a few minutes until crispy. Salt to taste and eat.
